Cooling Requirements

Motorola VME modules are specified, designed, and tested to operate with forced air cooling from

Reliable operation over the incoming air temperature range of 0 degrees Celsius to 55 www.honeywell-diver.com degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit to 131 degrees Fahrenheit).

Temperature qualification was performed in a standard Motorola VMEsystem 1000 chassis.

A 25-watt load board was inserted in two card slots, one on each side, adjacent to the board under test to simulate a high power density system configuration.

Three axial fans, each rated at 100 CFM, were mounted directly below the MVME card box.

The temperature of the incoming airflow was measured between the fan assembly and the card box, where the airflow first encountered the module under test.

The test software is executed when the module is subjected to a change in ambient temperature. The test software is executed when the ambient temperature changes.

Case temperatures of critical high power density integrated circuits are monitored to ensure that component supplier specifications are not exceeded.

While the exact amount of airflow required for cooling depends on the ambient air temperature as well as the type, number, and location of boards and other heat sources.

However, typically as little as 10 CFM of airflow through the module is sufficient for cooling.

In environments with lower maximum ambient temperatures, less airflow is required to cool the module.

Under more favourable thermal conditions, increased airflow will allow the module to operate reliably at ambient temperatures above 55 degrees Celsius.

It is important to note that in addition to the rated CFM of the air pusher, there are several factors that determine the actual amount of air flowing through the module.

FCC Compliance

These VME modules (MVME147S) have been tested in an FCC-compliant enclosure and meet the requirements for a Class A device.

FCC compliance is achieved under the following conditions:

Shielded cables are used for all external I/O ports

The cable shield is connected to ground through a metal-shell connector bonded to the front panel of the conductive module

Chassis rails are connected to earth ground

Front panel screws are tightened

The above conditions must be met in order to minimise RF emissions; failure to do so will affect the FCC compliance of the equipment containing the module.

A-B 1746SC-INO4I Analogue Pure Current Output Module

About the 1746SC-INO4I

The 1746sc-INO4I is Spectrum Controls’ analogue pure current output module. The module has four (4) isolated channel outputs. The 1746sc-INO4I occupies one slot in the 1746 Input/Output Chassis. The 1746sc-INO4I draws 120 milliamps of current from the backplane at 5 volts DC, but in order to minimise current loading on the backplane, the 1746sc-INO4I can be interfaced with an external power supply rated at 24 volts DC. The 1746sc-INO4I has a DIP switch that specifies whether the module is to be powered from the backplane or from an external power supply. When the DIP switch on the 1746sc-INO4I is set to the rack position, the module is powered from the backplane, and when the module is powered from an external 24 Vdc power supply, the DIP switch should be set to the EXT position.

The 1746sc-INO4I draws 5 volts DC from the backplane. This consumption rating is the same when the module is powered externally. The module has a removable 16-bit terminal block that accommodates Belden 8761 shielded twisted-pair cable. 1746sc-INO4I has 16-bit resolution, 366 nano-amps per count, and 320 microvolts per count. 1746sc-INO4I isolated channel analogue output models have auto-calibrating programmable limits and safety states, and are optically isolated for The 1746sc-INO4I isolated channel analogue output model has auto-calibrated programmable limits and safety states, and is opto-isolated to 750 volts DC (channel-to-channel, field wiring to backplane). 1746sc-INO4I is rated for thermal power dissipation up to 4.5 watts, with a maximum update time of 33.7 milliseconds for all 4 parallel channels, and a step response time of 1 millisecond. In addition, the 1746sc-INO4I is UL/CUL Class I, Division 2. Groups A, B, C, D, and CE listed.

Part number 1746sc-INO4I SLC 500 compatible module is an analogue output www.honeywell-diver.com module manufactured by spectrum control. This module is manufactured by Spectrum Controls, an Allen-Bradley partner.

Encompass Partners is an Allen-Bradley approved and certified partner to provide Allen-Bradley compatible products.

This module is similar in appearance to the actual SLC 500 module. The module has four (4) differential analogue output channels providing 0-20 mA, 0-21 mA, 4-20 mA at 366 nA per count with 16-bit resolution. The module features extended output ranges, auto-calibration, programmable limits, and safety status. The module’s data can be formatted into 16-bit binary, scaled engineering units, PID scaling, 1746-NO4 format, and user-defined proportional counts. Its accuracy is 0.08 per cent of full scale at 25 degrees Celsius and 0.15 per cent at 60 degrees Celsius.

Each channel of the module is galvanically isolated at 750 VDC, which improves system reliability by eliminating the noise crosstalk that occurs when converting the module’s high-resolution data. The same isolation level as the backplane field wiring provides protection for the rack and processor.

Since the module’s isolation eliminates the need for external signal isolation devices, system costs are reduced. The module’s single-slot width also saves critical chassis slots.

The module uses Allen-Bradley design and technology and functions like an Allen-Bradley module. Its configuration is similar to the SLC 500 module and most of its features are similar to the Allen-Bradley analogue output modules.

Technical Description of the 1746sc-INO4I

The Spectrum 1746sc-INO4I analogue output module has 4 channels and an analogue isolated current input type. It has 0-20 mA input current and 0-5V input voltage.

Introduction

The new DeltaV™ network “smart” switches are the next generation in the use of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components in control systems.

These switches combine the low cost of off-the-shelf components with www.honeywell-diver.com DeltaV-specified software and features that

making it more integrated and plug-and-play in the DeltaV Area Control Network (ACN) and other DeltaV networks outside the ACN.

The DeltaV Smart Switch requires no configuration to operate in a DeltaV network.

Access to advanced features requires minimal configuration and is easily accomplished using the DeltaV Network Device Command Centre.

This ensures that all Smart Switches on the network are configured consistently and securely, and that the performance of the DeltaV system is not compromised by misconfiguring any switch function.

This dedicated switch allows the DeltaV system to provide an advanced security feature of automatic port lockout, which can be easily implemented by the control system user.

Control system users can easily implement this feature: an increasingly important product feature in today’s harsh environments.

The DeltaV Smart Switch is also pre-configured to utilise features in the latest software releases, such as ARP sniffing and enhanced security features.

(The DeltaV Smart Switch is also preconfigured to detect certain man-in-the-middle attacks using features in the latest version of the software, such as ARP sniffing and enhanced port locking algorithms: ARP spooffng detection and enhanced port locking algorithms.

Benefits

and non-blocking architecture, in addition to more powerful CPUs for control plane and management operations.

Fully managed by DeltaV. The DeltaV Switch Commissioning application automatically discovers the switch in the Network Device Command Centre (formerly the Smart Switch Command Centre) when the switch is started.

Network addresses are automatically assigned by DeltaV DCS or by the user when installed in a DeltaV 2.5 network (new in DeltaV v13.3).

Simply provide the switch name and description and select a few setup parameters and the switch will begin reporting. A serial connection is no longer required to configure the switch.

Automatic reporting of network alarms and diagnostics to DeltaV workstations. Operators and maintenance stations will automatically receive device alerts that indicate abnormal network communications.

The DeltaV Network Device Command Centre application provides an interface for diagnosing and troubleshooting network problems. All of this is built-in, eliminating the need for third-party applications for network monitoring.

Plug and Play Installation. The new generation of DeltaV Smart Switches feature a DeltaV-compatible setup that installs out of the box into a compatible DeltaV network.

They require no user configuration to fully support DeltaV network communications.

NDCC ensures that the configuration of all Smart Switches on the network remains consistent, so you never have to worry about misconfigurations affecting network performance.

Plug and Play requires that any existing switch or network device be configured for 100/1000 full-duplex communication or auto-negotiation.

Auto-lock prevents unauthorised network connections. Disabling unused network connections is a security “best practice” that helps you comply with factory security policies.

With the switch’s built-in one-click lockout feature, you simply click a button in the DeltaV Network Appliance Command Centre application to

to automatically lock all unused network ports on your system. Easily protect your network from intrusion.

The port locking algorithm has been enhanced to allow locking of multiple daisy-chained DeltaV nodes, as well as detection of new nodes within dynamically determined uplink ports.

You can also configure the switch to ignore lockdown commands on specific switch ports if the application requires it.

For example, a port connected to a virtualised host server to allow DeltaV VMs to move between hosts.

Accessing the Console. Secure Shell (SSH) and serial connections are provided using a USB-C cable (except for the RM2040).

The Advanced Configuration menu includes a handful of settings that allow you to customise the switch for your specific use case while conforming to the requirements of the DeltaV Regional Control Network.

SSH communications provide a secure connection to the switch console.

Encryption in SSH communications provides additional security for switch operation and maintenance by protecting user credentials and preventing interception.

Full range of switch hardware configurations. The new generation of DeltaV network switches offers a wide range of hardware solutions.

From 30-port rackmount units to ffxed-port DIN-rail switches, DeltaV network switches meet a wide range of network requirements.

For example, the following protection functions are available:

Timed overcurrent protection

Inverse time overcurrent protection

Directional overcurrent protection

Undervoltage or overvoltage protection

Distance protection

Transformer and motor differential protection

Cable, transformer and motor thermal protection

Reverse power protection

Synchronisation check

The parameters of the protection scheme can be changed via the HMI control unit without the use of a personal computer.

Additional functions can be performed using a personal computer running configuration software and connected to the optical interface on the front of the HMI unit.

These additional functions include

Parameter setting for the protection programme,

reading out of current measured values

Reading out the status of binary inputs and outputs,

reading out the fault recorder

Viewing the status of FUPLA logic inputs/outputs

The REF542plus allows convenient local operation and is fully interlocked to prevent switching errors.

The switching positions of the various switching devices in the switch box can be displayed on the LCD display of the HMI control unit.

If the local control mode is selected, switching operations can be entered locally via the control buttons on the HMI control unit.

Switching to other control modes is only possible using the correct electronic pushbuttons.

In remote control mode, switching operations can only be performed via a remote control unit (e.g. station automation system).

For users who wish to switch locally and remotely at the same time, a special control mode, the local and remote mode, is also available.

Interlocking is also possible between switchgear connected to the same busbar system. This requires the provision of status information between switchgear and other switchgear.

The status information must be provided by a conventional hard-wired ring bus system or by the more sophisticated ABB station automation system.

Introduction to the DeltaV™ VerticalPlus I/O Rack

Keep your I/O subsystems running efficiently with DeltaV™ VerticalPlus I/O Racks.

The VerticalPlus platform allows you to integrate DeltaV www.honeywell-diver.com SIS logic solvers vertically, giving you the flexibility you need for cabinet design.

Power supplies/controllers and I/O carriers are modular.

You buy only what you need, but rest assured that as your system grows, you can add plug-and-play carriers-it’s easy!

The Advantage

Designed specifically for SIS. The redesigned carrier supports simplex and redundant SLS modules.

These modules communicate via a redundant safety bus, which is separate from the BPCS communications.

The VerticalPlus carrier also communicates with other SIS nodes on the vertical and horizontal carriers via redundant SISNet repeaters.

The modular design allows for flexible installation. A single T-shaped DIN rail is all that is needed to mount the power/controller carrier in place.

Fieldbus power is now independent for each individual card.

The modular design approach of the DeltaV system allows you to add I/O carriers as needed.

Allows you to expand online. Additional carriers can be added online as needed.

Increases the density of the cabinet-mounted system. Six I/O carriers can be mounted on one side of a standard 1200mm x 600mm x 2200mm cabinet.

Product Description

The VerticalPlus I/O Interface Carrier plugs into the 4-Wide Power/Controller Carrier, which provides power to the system and communication between the I/O interface and the controller.

The controller processes I/O interface information through the control module.

The VerticalPlus I/O Interface Carrier provides a separate bus field power connection for each I/O card.

The carrier is designed to support the same terminals as the horizontal carrier.

The carriers are mounted on T-shaped DIN rails. Each I/O interface carrier is supplied with connectors for direct mating together.

A single I/O subsystem supports a total of eight 8-width I/O interface carriers for a maximum of 64 local I/O interface cards.

Cable extenders are used to connect carriers that cannot be installed next to each other, allowing the carriers to be arranged in standard equipment cabinets.

The extender has two 22-pin D-type connectors and supports a dual cable fault-tolerant configuration.

Ports A and B are connected in parallel so that either port can be used.

The new Dual Carrier Extender also supports the redundant secure bus coaxial connectors used by DeltaV SIS.

The total length of the I/O bus is 6.5 metres (21.3 feet).

The VerticalPlus carrier can also be used for Zone 2 remote I/O devices to provide installation flexibility.
