Triconex 3504E High Density Digital Input Module

64-Point Digital Input Modules

Each 64-point digital input (DI) module has three isolated channels that independently process all data from the input module.

A microprocessor on each channel scans each input point, compiles the data, and www.honeywell-diver.com transmits it to the main processor as required.

The input data is then voted on the main processor before being processed to ensure the highest integrity.

All digital input modules provide complete, continuous diagnostics for each channel.

A fault on any channel activates a fault indicator, which in turn activates a chassis alarm.

The TMR module is guaranteed to operate normally in the event of a single fault, and in some cases.

The TMR modules are guaranteed to operate in the event of a single fault, and in some cases, in the event of multiple faults.

All digital input modules support hot standby modules, which require a separate external termination panel (ETP) with cable connections to the Tricon backplane.

Each module is mechanically keyed to prevent improper installation in the chassis.

The Model 3504E High Density Digital Input Module provides continuous verification of Tricon’s ability to detect transitions to the opposite state.

On this TMR module, all critical signal paths are 100% tripled to ensure safety and maximum availability.

Each channel regulates the signal independently between the field and Tricon.

The Single Digital Input Module (Model 3564) is optimized for safety-critical applications where low cost is more important than maximum availability.

On a single module, only the portion of the signal path required to ensure safe operation is triplexed.

Triplexed. Special self-test circuits detect all “stuck-on” and “stuck-off” fault conditions within half a second.

If an individual module detects an input fault, it will report that point as OFF, which could cause a fault when switching to a hot standby module.

Triconex TMR Digital Input Module

TMR Digital Input Modules

Each TMR Digital Input (DI) Module has three independent input channels that independently process all data entered into the module.

A microprocessor on each channel scans each input point, compiles the data, and transmits it to the main processor as required.

The input data is then voted on the main processor before being processed to ensure the highest integrity.

All critical signal paths are 100% triple processed to ensure safety and maximum availability.

Guaranteed safety and maximum availability. Each channel regulates signals independently and provides optical isolation between the field and the Tricon.

All TMR digital input modules provide complete and continuous diagnostics for each channel.

Any diagnostic failure on any channel activates the Module Failure Indicator, which in turn activates the chassis alarm signal.

The Module Failure Indicator points to a channel failure, not a module www.honeywell-diver.com failure. Modules are guaranteed to operate normally in the event of a single failure and to continue to operate normally in the event of multiple failures of certain types.

Models 3502E, 3503E, and 3505E can perform a self-test to detect a “stuck-open” condition in which the circuitry is unable to determine whether a point has entered a shutdown state.

The ability to detect the point of shutdown is an important feature since most security systems have a power failure trip feature.

In order to detect the presence of a “stuck-open” input, the switch within the input circuit needs to be turned off in order for the opto-isolated circuit to read a zero input (“off”).

The I/O communications processor will freeze the last reading while the test is running.

All TMR digital input modules support the hot standby feature and require a separate external termination panel (ETP) with cable connections to the Tricon backplane.

Each module is mechanically keyed to prevent improper installation in the configured chassis.

Tricon Communication Module

The Tricon Communication Module (TCM) is compatible with Tricon v10.0 and later systems only.

Allows Tricon to communicate via Ethernet with TriStation, other www.honeywell-diver.com Tricon or Trident controllers, Modbus master and slave devices, and external hosts.

Each TCM contains 4 serial ports, 2 network ports, and 1 debug port (for Triconex).

Each serial port is uniquely addressed and can be configured as a Modbus master or slave.

Serial port #1 supports Modbus or Trimble GPS interface. Serial port #4 supports Modbus or TriStation interface.

Each TCM supports an aggregated data rate of 460.8 Kb/s for all four serial ports.

Tricon programs use variable names as identifiers, while Modbus devices use numeric addresses called aliases.

Therefore, each Tricon variable name must be assigned an alias that will be read by or written to the Modbus device.

An alias is a five-digit number that represents the Modbus message type and the address of the variable in the Ticon. An alias number is assigned in the TriStation.

Any standard Modbus device can communicate with Tricon via TCM, provided an alias is assigned to the Tricon variable.

The alias number must also be used when the host accesses the Tricon through other communication modules.

Each TCM contains two network ports – NET 1 and NET 2. Models 4351A and 4353 have two copper Ethernet (802.3) ports and Models 4352A and 4354 have two fiber optic Ethernet ports.

The NET 1 also supports the Peer-to-Peer and Peer-to-Peer Time Synchronization protocols.

A single Tricon system supports up to four TCMs, which must reside in two logical slots.

Different TCM models cannot be mixed in a logical slot.

Each Tricon system supports a total of 32 Modbus masters or slaves, including network and serial ports.

The hot standby feature does not apply to TCMs, but you can replace a defective TCM while the controller is online.
